Hon Justin Muturi, the Speaker of the National Assembly, is in an awkward position as a result of his decision to defect from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s camps and join Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp.
His predicament was exacerbated yesterday by defiance from legislators close to Uhuru and Raila, who made it difficult for Muturi to regain control of the house following his decision to formally join Kenya Kwanza.
And now, according to The Star, Legislators loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are plotting an attack on Speaker Muturi when the national assembly reconvenes.
According to the publication, pro-handshake members of the national assembly are planning an impeachment motion against the speaker. According to reports, legislators intend to call a vote of no confidence.
This is despite the fact that legislators allied with Kenya Kwanza dared the pro-handshake team to introduce the motion. Muturi stated during yesterday’s tumultuous session that he will continue to strive for impartiality even after joining Ruto’s camp.
