Women scared of politics in Siaya


Women have been asked to step up and run for political positions as their male counterparts in Siaya County.

Nominated Member of Parliament Prof. Jacklime Oduol together with youth and women were urged by Advocate Brian Weke who was speaking on behalf of the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA), applauded the efforts women are taking in the society and even those running for power.

Weke regreted that it is only in Siaya County where no woman has ever been elected into any senior political position such as the National Assembly or Senate in the recent past with only Prof. Oduol being the only woman in the race for Alego/Usonga parliamentary seat.

The meeting led by Elizabeth Owiti who urged voters to change the voting culture come 9th August 2022, the meeting took place at a hotel in Siaya town.
