The Vihiga County senator, Honourable George Khaniri, warmly welcomed the politicians to the UDP party. He assured them of the party’s ticket and support in the run-up to the August general election.
Elisha Amara (South Maragoli), Victor Ijaika (Lugaga Wa Muluma), Wycliffe Masini (Mungoma Ward), Violet Bagada (nominated), Evans Chunguli (Central Maragoli), and Gladys Analo are the Vihiga County members who defected (Busali Ward).
The politicians claimed they were stymied by Amani National Congress party officials who backed their opponents. They went on to say that ANC officials invited their opponents to the party’s National Delegates Conference but then left them behind. They stated that they have decided to decamp to a party where there will be more peace and fewer frustrations.
