The president and Raila Amolo Odinga have both expressed strong support for the Building Bridges Initiative Amendment bill. The bill was introduced in parliament and approved, but it was later rejected by the Supreme Court. The proposers filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, and the final decision is expected today.
The well-known lawyer James Orengo has stated that the outcome may be more positive in various parts of the bill. Following the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Amolo Odinga in the country, the two came up with a new bill to help unite the people of Kenya.
The bill includes additional funding increases for counties ranging from 15% to 35%, among other things. Raila now has a better chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta for obvious reasons. Wilkiam Ruto has been a vocal opponent of the bill, arguing that jobs should be created first for Kenyans.
