The Deputy President appears to be focusing his criticism on his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has backed ODM leader Raila Odinga in the August general elections. Most of Ruto’s critics and incites were directed at President Uhuru and his camp when he began his campaigns in the middle of last year until the beginning of this year, but that has decreased dramatically over the past few years.
The Taifa Leo Newspaper attempted to explain why this is the case in its publication today. According to the publication, Uhuru has helped Raila gain a lot of support in the country since he accepted the mandate to endorse him for president. Raila’s popularity has skyrocketed in 11 counties in Mount Kenya over the last few months, causing Ruto concern.
Ruto now fears that Raila will benefit from the Jubilee government’s programs while he stands by. His attacks on Uhuru have slowed in recent days, and in some of his speeches, he refers to Uhuru as a good friend, which is ironic given what we know about him.
