Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM Party, met with a number of politicians and opinion leaders from the South Rift Region on Wednesday.
The team, which included representatives from Bomet, Kericho, and Nakuru counties, met Raila in Nairobi as one method to ensure Raila reaps the advantages of the Rift Valley vote.
The recent high prices of fertilizers and farm supplies were among the primary problems highlighted by leaders. Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor Alex Tolgos, who led the group, urged Raila should act quickly to save their farms.
At the same time, Tolgos waded into the controversial Kimwarer and Arror dams constructions urging Raila to act upon and ensure the controversial dams are constructed.
He said some companies and few individuals ate the money and that it left the region exposed.
Tolgos assured Raila that he will get over 40% of the region’s votes to come August and that they will vigorously campaign for him.
“We had targeted 60% of Raila’s votes from the South Rift but if we get 40% we will be so grateful” added Tolgos.
Among those present included Former Moi minister and Aldai MP Sally Kosgei, ODM chair in the North Rift Kipkorir Menjo, Alex Tolgos among many others.
On her part, Sally Kosgei threw jabs on DP William Ruto, saying he opposed a constitution that has taken funds to the counties. She urged her tribesmen to campaign and vote for Raila in August, adding that the Kalenjin community should not be locked out of government after August.
