Thousands of Kenyans, including hundreds of lawmakers, have flocked to the Sagana State Lodge, where President Uhuru Kenyatta, the primary guest, is due to address the people on political matters.
Leaders from the Mount Kenya region have descended in force to attend the president’s ceremony, where he is expected to set the course for the region in this year’s national politics.
However, a significant regional leader has purposefully opted out of the gathering, which has raised questions. Mutahi Kahiga, the governor of Nyeri county, who was rumored to have attended vice president William Ruto’s Hustler country, reportedly skipped the event.
Key leaders from the region who are in attendance include among others the Nyeri town lawmaker Ngunjiri Wambugu, Martha karua of Narc Kenya, Murang’a women representative Sabina Chege, Health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe among others.
In his speech, the President reiterated that the time he had informed his deputy of campaigns had arrived and that they would now hit the road.
