Residents of Nyeri applauded a young man who disrupted Deputy President William Ruto’s meeting on Monday and spoke out about concerns impacting them and the community.
The young man, who said he had been invited but had not confirmed his attendance, predicted that Ruto would win the presidential election in 2022, but that how he fulfills the promises he has made to Kenyans, particularly residents of the Mount Kenya Region, would determine how he would be treated in 2027.
He added that the Mt Kenya region requires empowerment in their companies, notably farming, and that Kikuyu’s prefer opportunities to grow and flourish in their businesses rather than money.
He also claimed that if the DP listens to the needs of the locals, the region will offer to pay his 2027 campaigns because they will have enough funds.
“We will give you money if you build a dam for the residents of Kieni because we will have enough. Nothing else can be done to a Kikuyu except empower them. We can work for ourselves and do not need anyone’s money “he said, eliciting applause from the audience.
He then went on to blame Kanini Kega, his local MP, for failing to address the needs of his constituents while campaigning for Raila Odinga’s presidential run across the country.
