The fight for the 2022 elections is heating up, with only seven months till the poll, which will take place on August 9th. Due to their popularity in different regions of the country, many Kenyans are comparing it to a two-horse contest between ODM party leader Raila Amollo Odinga and vice president William Samoei Ruto.
The Azimio La Umoja team, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga, earned a major boost today ahead of the next elections. Turkana East MP Ali Lokiru has joined the Azimio alliance after officially abandoning DP Ruto’s UDA party. Because Lokiru and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok were driving his efforts in the county, this is a major setback for the vice president.
The people of Turkana in the grassroot areas, according to Lokiru, have persuaded him to join the Azimio La Umoja alliance because it will give him a greater chance of defending his seat in the August elections. Residents told him that they support Raila Odinga and will vote for him as Kenya’s future president. He decided to do a complete 180-degree turn and announced that he will now mobilize support and campaign for Odinga, particularly in Turkana County.
