Dr. Oburu Odinga, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly and the eldest brother of Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga, has every cause to be pleased after his Siaya senatorial bid received a boost.
Oburu, who is vying to succeed Senate Minority Leader James Orengo for the gubernatorial seat, has faced opposition from a number of politicians and even county residents, forcing his brother Raila Odinga to publicly support him. However, the outgoing governor Colonel Rasanga’s recent pronouncements are a big boost to him.
Rasanga publicly proclaimed his support for Oburu’s campaign, describing him as an appropriate contender for the job. He stated that Oburu’s record is spotless, and that he will function admirably if elected senator.
Oburu lost his Bondo parliamentary seat to Gideon Ochanda after which Raila nominated him to EALA through ODM.
