Despite UDA supporters’ joy that DP Ruto will have a better chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta now that Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula have joined their ranks, it is also important to evaluate what they will bring from their region, because winning an election is based on numbers.
According to the STAR Newspaper, the coalition agreement between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the African National Congress (ANC), and Ford Kenya is causing Ruto a lot of confusion about who to pick as his running mate because he was focused on the Mt Kenya region to compete on the same ground as Raila Odinga.
This comes after it became evident that Mudavadi cannot even control the majority of members of Parliament elected on the ANC platform, and hence cannot be trusted to give much to the UDA strategic campaign team.
