Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that he is now keeping information and details about his political figure as close to him as possible.
He’s been a closely watched figure recently, with the country waiting to see what he does next after declaring his presidential candidacy for the August election.
Despite reports of ongoing talks to return him to ODM leader Raila Odinga, nothing more has been said about the talks’ progress.
It has been revealed that the leader gagged his allies before flying to the UK late last week to ensure that no information about his political future leaked.
As a result, attempts to obtain information about the talks have been futile, with those close to him refusing to comment.
“Please don’t drag me there; instructions are clear that we are not giving interviews about Kalonzo for the time being,” one of them, a Wiper MP, told The Star.
Only his running mate Andrew Sunkuli has hinted at a solution, implying that talks to have Kalonzo drop his bid are failing.
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, he stated that despite the reported efforts of ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kalonzo remains in the presidential race.
“Yes, we are on the ballot, and that is why I’m here to represent my presidential candidate, who is on a private trip outside the country,” Mr Sunkuli said.
According to reports, KANU leader Gideon Moi has been negotiating on Raila’s behalf in meetings held at Kalonzo’s Yatta Farm.
