The Mt Kenya region appears to be divided over the August general elections, with the majority of people believing that deputy president William Ruto is the presidential candidate to beat in Mt Kenya.
However, a trend has emerged in which citizens have turned against politicians who have toured the region spreading messages, most notably Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate of the Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party.
Yesterday, Martha Karua, the leader of the NARC Kenya party, and Raila Odinga were subjected to vicious booing in the Kutus area of Kirinyaga county, with angry crowds denying them the opportunity to express themselves, though this is debatable given that leaders are also supposed to hear what residents want to express.
In a new video circulating on social media, Hon Kanini Kega, a Kieni constituency member of the national assembly, is shown being shouted down by an enraged mob last night in Nyeri town.
The MP appears to be attempting to convey a message about the goal of his Azimio camp, but the enraged audience is having none of it.
Pro-Deputy President William Ruto, bottom-up economic model, and wheelbarrow chants continue to fill the air, making Kanini’s speech difficult to deliver.
