President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the 59th Madaraka Day celebrations since Kenya’s independence yesterday. It was Madaraka’s last day for the incumbent president. This was done differently from previous Madaraka day celebrations, we have seen the military perform for the outgoing president to honor all that he has done during the last 2 terms he has served as president.
President Uhuru Kenyatta could not recognize the existence of William Ruto, his deputy, who had received sharp criticism from Democratic Ruto’s allies. Moses Wetangla and Ndindi Nyoro pointed to the president and said he should recognize the Deputy President who co-sponsored the last two terms of his term.
Uhuru’s relationship with Ruto seems to be getting worse by the day even though Ruto begged for forgiveness during the national prayer breakfast and from everything we saw yesterday there is still some bad blood between the two leaders.
