Two police officers were detained while escorting a car carrying marked ballot papers from Deputy President William Ruto’s Rift Valley constituency.
Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro stated that the suspects, two police officers and a civilian, were apprehended in Kilgoris at 6:30 p.m. after members of the public trailed the car and raised an alarm.
The three were arrested while ferrying marked ballot papers and other election materials, according to police, who added that they received a distress call from the public at a Petrol station and rushed to find a Toyota Sienta carrying election materials while being escorted by two police officers.
Several election materials, including one voter register for Kilgoris Prison, two election results booklets, 12 packets of presidential ballot papers, and four form 35c, were discovered, according to police.
The intercepted materials were the property of the IEBC, according to the Transmara West constituency returning officer.
