The deputy president, William Ruto, was met by a group of Kakamega leaders in Kakamega, where his chopper had already landed. The ODM governor Nanok from Turkana, who is presently leading the Ruto campaign, was among those there to meet Ruto. He recently stated that he will remain in Ruto’s camp.
When word of Ruto’s arrival began to circulate in the neighborhood around 8 a.m., people gathered as early as 8 a.m. As the election approaches, this is a clear sign of the growing influence he has in the area. Former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale was among those present.
Ruto is counting on the support of the area’s young leaders to campaign and win votes. So far, a large number of leaders have backed Ruto, claiming that he has the greatest policies for the region and the Luhya people. His tour comes to a close today.
