National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah is facing the threat of legal action from Lawyer Danstan Omari over an alleged defamatory tweet.
The disagreement stems from comments made by Omari during a February 1, 2023 interview on NTV, in which he accused the William Ruto administration and Ichung’wah specifically of harassing former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“William Ruto is a local President, and the likes of Ichung’wah are only known upto Kikuyu Constituency…we’re dealing with a new war that Kenya Kwanza could’ve withdrawn.” Omari said.
Ichung’wah responded with a quoted retweet, which Omari has taken as a defamatory attack. Omari has requested that Ichung’wah withdraw the tweet and apologize within seven days, or face legal action
“Phewl At least am known in Kikuyu by my people unlike the fake media based liar only known along Koinange Street!”
In a letter drafted by his lawyer, Brian Mabeya, Omari claims that the tweet was calculated to harm his character and reputation, and has caused him significant distress.
