According to a statement from the United Nations Information Centre in Nairobi, Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed has expressed her complete confidence and respect for President William Ruto’s leadership.
This statement was issued in response to alleged leaked documents that suggested UN officials were uncertain about Kenyan leadership.
The Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, stated that the leaked documents were distorted and taken out of context, and did not reflect Mohamed’s true views. The statement also confirmed that Mohamed will be visiting Kenya, a trip which had been previously postponed.
During her visit, Mohamed will be meeting with President Ruto and local UN officials. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of Kenya’s role as a generous host to UN institutions and as a significant contributor to the international agenda.
The alleged reports about Mohamed’s reservations towards Ruto stemmed from leaked documents on the social platform Discord.
