Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Prof. Paul Wainaina has resigned days after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned individuals against the World Health Organization emergency hub set-up on the claimed university’s land.
Speaking during the launch of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research (KUTRRH) Level 6 Hospital’s catheterization laboratory in Kiambu County on Saturday, the furious President warned individuals against the plan.
“We allocate land to WHO to set up an emergency hub here in Kenya then others come out claiming that its their land. This land belongs to Kenya! ‘Lakini, bado nimebaki na wiki tatu’ we shall deal with you swiftly and effectively! ‘tutaenda nyumbani na wao,” he said.
“We are here to break ground for WHO Africa regional operations and logistics hub which is a historic moment for our country. I express my sincere gratitude to WHO Director-General, Dr.Tedros Adhanom for choosing Kenya.” Added the head of state.
Kenya has given WHO 30 acres of land along Thika Super Highway for the project.
