Members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) of the National Assembly have flown to Mombasa to try and reach a consensus on Bishop David Oginde’s nomination as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
President William Ruto had nominated Bishop Oginde after Archbishop Eliud Wabukala’s successful six-year term.
During Bishop Oginde’s vetting, five of the eight members present voted to disapprove his nomination, and some of the JLAC members took issue with his past writings and utterances.
However, it is unclear why the committee requires 14 days to approve a nominee who did not have many issues during his vetting.
