After the IEBC disqualified Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka from the presidential race on Friday evening, a section of his allies and Party officials protested the decision.
The party’s leaders now claim that they submitted all of the requirements needed to clear Kalonzo in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, despite reports that his name was left off the list of aspirants who will go through the final round of clearance because the party did not submit the signatures in an excel format.
Matungulu member of Parliament Stephen Mule told KTN News on Saturday that the party had done everything required by the IEBC of all presidential candidates.
He claimed that they are puzzled as to why Kalonzo’s name is not on the list of 16 aspirants who will appear before IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati for the final round of nominations.
“All of the requirements for any Kenyan to run for Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidency have been met. The mandate of the Wiper party has been fulfilled “Mule stated.
“As a party, we had to meet all of the requirements for Kalonzo to run for president after being given a mandate during the National Delegates Conference, and the mandate was very clear: ‘run for president.'”
According to the party’s secretary general, Shakilla Abdalla, the party’s NEB has asked IEBC to explain why Kalonzo is not on the list.
