Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has received bad news after his party’s candidate Wavinya Ndeti was sued by two Machakos voters for allegedly using forged academic credentials.
The petitioners claim that Ndeti’s degree in computer science was not properly recognized by the United Kingdom.
Ms Ndeti, a former Kathiani constituency MP, was given a direct ticket by the Wiper party following a consensus in which Mavoko MP Patrick Makau dropped out of the race to support her.
This comes two days after Kalonzo unsuccessfully advised CCU counterpart Nzioka Waita to drop his governor bid in favor of Wavinya.
After two camps belonging to Ndeti and Waita clashed over unspecified issues, there was a fist fight. Raila, the ODM leader, was forced to cut short his speech in Machakos on Sunday.
The IEBC also denied clearance to Kalonzo’s candidate for Mombasa governor, Mike Sonko. However, the case is still being heard in court.
If their efforts to contest the August election fail, Kalonzo may be forced to field another Wiper candidate.
