Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has encouraged ODM leader Raila Odinga to lower the cost of living.
Wetang’ula said Raila should not be making promises at a time when he has the potential to make a difference, speaking in Bahati, Nakuru county, on Saturday, when the Kenya Kwanza Alliance hosted a series of political rallies.
“We recently heard Raila claim that if he is elected, he will cut fertilizer and food expenses. You, Mr. Raila Odinga, are the de facto co-president of Kenya “Wetang’ula expressed himself.
“You are Kenya’s de facto deputy president. If you want to aid Kenyans, now is the time to do it because you are in power.”
Wetang’ula’s sentiments follow comments by Ruto sympathizers that the DP was locked out of administration and hence should not be responsible for high living costs and other failings.
Raila’s handshake agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, 2018 has been weaponized to counter the ODM leader’s bid.
Ruto has stated openly that the Handshake kept him out of the cabinet.
The DP chastised the Handshake for delaying the Jubilee government’s development program, claiming it delayed the implementation of vital projects.
Even after the Handshake said he was involved in the planning, the same DP has been taking credit for successful development projects.
