Seven children in Bahati Sub-county Hospital are receiving medical attention due to stomach discomforts resulting from eating mushrooms.
According to a parent of one of the children, one child was discharged on Tuesday night while the other seven are still undergoing treatment.
It is believed that the children picked the mushrooms from a nearby farm and ate them at one of their homes before developing complications.
Similar cases of suspected food poisoning have been reported across the country, leading to the closure of two schools in Kakamega after students experienced stomach discomfort.
Additionally, three students from Mukumu Girls’ High School have died and about 100 students were hospitalized. Butere Boys High School was also closed indefinitely due to suspected food poisoning cases.
