United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has taken to Twitter to reveal that he spoke with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta about the ongoing elections. Blinken stated that he discussed his recent trip to Africa with Uhuru and explained the significance of the recently concluded elections to the African continent.
According to Blinken, Kenya is a role model for many African countries and should therefore maintain peace as the counting continues. He then wished all Kenyans luck.
“I discussed my recent trip to Africa with @StateHouseKenya President Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as the significance of Kenya’s elections as a model for the continent. As the vote tallying from the August 9 elections continues, we encourage peace and patience.” Blinken explained.
Blinken and President Uhuru have been close friends throughout Uhuru’s reign, and this will continue after he leaves office.
