Moses Kuria, a Gatundu South Member of Parliament, has claimed that he and other political leaders he did not name helped President Uhuru Kenyatta win the previous elections through dubious means.
The MP, who was speaking at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s NDC, chastised President Kenyatta for ignoring DP Ruto and his allies, despite the fact that they were the team that propelled him to the top seat under the Jubilee coalition in 2013 and 2017.
In the controversial utterances, Kuria alleged that together with others who are now allied to DP Ruto’s camp guarded President Kenyatta’s votes and also rigged the election in his favour.
“Kuna wengine wanasema ati kura ya mlima itagawanywa; mheshimiwa Ann Waiguru, Rigathi Gachagua, Muthomi Njuki, Kimani Ichung’wa, Senator Linturi, Alice Wahome, Faith Gitau, Kimani wa Matangi…Sisi ndio tulikuwa tukishikilia Uhuru kura, na sisi ndio tulikuwa tunamuibia kura,” Kuria stated.
Kuria went forth to argue that the vote-rich Mount Kenya region would unanimously back the DP just the way they had rallied behind the UhuRuto government in 2013.
“Akili yote iliyoweka Uhuru kwenye kiti, yote iko hapa, ile iliokuwa kule Azimio ni mwili tu,” Kuria noted.
The legislator, who is eyeing the Kiambu Governor’s seat, pledged his support for DP Ruto whom he described as “a good-natured person who keeps his word.”
“Wengine wanajigamba ati wao ndio walileta Kenya pamoja; nobody brings Kenyans together like William Ruto,” Kuria explained.
He added: “You might be a good leader, politician and party leader but one thing I am sure you are a good human being and that makes a big difference. Supporting a good human being is more important than supporting a good leader because we can take your word.”
The Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant and Chama Cha Kazi party leader further exuded confidence that Ruto would be the undisputed victor in the August Presidential polls by trouncing all other candidates vying for the seat.
