Professor Kiraitu Murungi is a veteran Kenyan politician from the politically important Mt Kenya Region. He is the current Governor of Meru County, having been elected for the first time in the hotly contested 2017 general elections on the ticket of the ruling Jubilee Coalition party of Kenya. He founded his own political party, Mbus, which is affiliated with the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Movement.
Professor Kiraitu Murungi has revealed his preferred presidential candidate for the fourth general election, which will take place in August of this year. According to an online video, Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi stated that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Movement presidential flag bearer Hon Raila Amolo Odinga will be the next president of the Republic of Kenya come rain or shine. Hon Raila will face off against Deputy President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto in the race to succeed retiring incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is serving his final term.
