The relationship between The President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto is irreversible and the handshake escalated the situation by changing functions that saw Ruto`s responsibilities taken away.
According to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who is vying for the Senate position come 9th August 2022, the people of Kenya can only hold The DP accountable for the period he performed his functions and not from when it was delegated to another person.
Speaking concerning his move to continue vying for Senate after serving as Uasin Gishu Governor for two terms, Governor Mandago says he is convinced that the constitution of Kenya has no clause or law that stops a former governor from asking for any political seat apart from the governor. This comes despite a pending court order that targets to stop any governor from serving in any political position after the completion of two terms.
Mandago, has promised to ensure the relationship between the Senate, National Assembly and the Cabinet is strengthened in order to have a successful implementation of devolution, terming the conflict from within the three a major challenge to governors, especially when it comes to the national government not dispersing funds meant for development in the County governments.
Terming the 2010 constitution on devolution as the best thing that ever happened to Kenya, the governor says he plans to focus on the economic giant of Uasin Gishu county that is farming to yield more, he asked that the Ministry of Water and Agriculture should release funds meant for the respective functions in the counties.
On matters concerning security as far as the political season is concerned, Mandago stated that the former Prime Minister Raila odinga, did not announce his visit and that the chopper incident was unfortunate and citizens should not be political hard liners.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, has been elected as governor twice and is known for his political stand, focus and charismatic leadership. After William Ruto he is considered the next Kalenjin Kingpin.
