The Langata MP, Phelix ‘Jalang’o’ Odiwuor, who transitioned from being a comedian and media personality to a politician, has been making headlines recently for attending meetings hosted by President William Ruto, the political rival of Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM party.
Despite being elected on an ODM ticket, Jalang’o and other MPs have opted to work closely with the government for development, a move that has been criticized by Odinga and the ODM.
However, Jalang’o is also a successful entrepreneur with interests in media, hospitality, and events.
His restaurant, Wapek Delicacies, which specializes in African dishes and theme nights featuring local artists, is celebrating its first anniversary.
Despite early success, the restaurant is reportedly experiencing low foot traffic during peak lunch hours on weekdays, possibly due to Jalang’o’s association with the Luo Festival and his political affiliations, with Odinga’s supporters allegedly staying away from businesses linked to the MP.
