Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi County was arrested and taken to Nairobi yesterday. The senator was not charged right away, allowing him to cool his heels in police custody for an overnight stay.
According to reports that have reached us today, the senator will remain in police custody until Monday, when his case will be heard. According to the journalist African Voice, the Nandi county senator’s fight against ethnic prejudice will be hard and determined.

When Samson Cherargei’s case on hate speech was mentioned in court earlier this month, he accused chief magistrate Wendy Micheni.
His arrest occurred while he was actively campaigning to retain his seat after securing the United Democratic Alliance UDA party ticket in the recently concluded nominations.
