Section Of Residents of Uasin Gishu’s Cry Over Presidential Results, Send Message to IEBC.”Sisi Tunaumia”

A group of Uasin Gishu County residents has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, led by chair Wafula Chenbukati, to expedite the tallying of presidential votes following the August 9 general elections.

Residents of Eldoret told KTN News on Saturday evening that most businesses have been losing money because customers aren’t available because everyone is waiting for the presidential election results before they can resume their normal lives.

“We ask the IEBC to move quickly and tell us who the president-elect is; we will accept whoever wins, whether it is Raila Odinga or William Ruto, because Kenya has to move forward at the end of the day.”

“We’ve been hurting in the last few days because our businesses have closed because people have gone home, and others have traveled to their homes and have yet to return, so Chebukati should just announce who has won,” some residents said.

Most of them, however, expressed confidence in Deputy President William Ruto’s victory, stating that they voted for him because they believe he will deliver on the Kenya Kwanza Alliance manifesto.

Ruto’s home county is Uasin Gishu, and residents expect him to be named President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor after defeating his main rival of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, Mr Odinga.

They also expressed satisfaction with how the IEBC conducted the elections, saying that most of what they witnessed was a great milestone in the country’s democracy, and urging Kenyans to keep the peace even after the president-elect is announced.
