Police in Nakuru are probing an incident in which Kimani Ngunjiri, the Lands Chief Administrative Secretary, allegedly shot and injured a man during a dispute over a 1/2 acre piece of land at Kwa Tom village in Subukia Constituency.
The altercation between Ngunjiri and a 60-year-old woman, Susan Murugi, reportedly turned violent after the CAS and his group invaded her farm early on Monday morning.
According to Murugi, Ngunjiri pointed his gun at her and fired, but she challenged him to shoot and he turned the gun on her children.
Her daughter was injured in the ensuing scuffle. When Murugi’s son arrived with an axe, Ngunjiri’s bodyguard intervened and the former MP allegedly fired his gun, injuring a passerby.
Ngunjiri claims he acted in self-defense, and the dispute between him and Murugi has reportedly been ongoing for years without resolution.
The former MP has surrendered his firearm to the police, who have commenced investigations into the incident. The injured parties have been treated and released from the hospital.
