Serious Crimes detectives have detained four rogue police officers linked to DCI Langata on accusations of Robbery with Violence.
This is after they kidnapped a man at NextGen Mall at noon on February 6, 2022, and demanded money from him.
The officers confronted the man who had sought a taxi at the roadside along Mombasa Road before forcing him into a waiting Subaru with five occupants.
Corporal Tom Otieno, the officer in charge, moved Sh40,000 from the victim’s Mpesa account to his Mpesa account while in the vehicle.
After a 2-hour ordeal, they went to the victim’s apartment and stole another USD2,400 from him before abandoning him at Choma Zone, a Total petrol station along Mombasa Road.
The victim went to the Akira police station the next day to file a report, only to discover the vehicle he had been bundled into parked there. He raced to the headquarters and quickly informed the Serious Crimes team of his discoveries.
The severe crimes detectives quickly initiated an investigation and determined that the vehicle belonged to DCI Langata.
