Suicides among university students have been reported and are rapidly increasing across Kenya’s various higher learning institutions located in various counties. Kibabii University is in mourning following the death of one of its students.
According to the death announcement shared by Nipashe campus flavor news on Facebook, Amos Khamala, a first-year student in Kibabii, has been pronounced dead. According to reports, Amos took his own life after disagreements with his father over relationships.
The deceased had been warned by his father about relationships, so his girlfriend paid a visit to his parents. His father dared to punish him and his girlfriend, so he decided to end his life by throwing himself into a deep river Nzoia and drowning.
Kenyans on social media have expressed a variety of opinions and thoughts about the incident, with some advising parents to educate their children about the effects of relationships in an appropriate manner.
