In Kilifi, three corpses suspected to belong to pastor Paul Mackenzie’s adherents were exhumed. As the procedure was being carried out, it came to light that one of the tombs contained two corpses. The individuals are believed to have died due to religiously motivated fasting.
Working jointly with government pathologists, homicide detectives have pinpointed eight tombs in Shakahola village.
The authorities are still unearthing additional remains, as eyewitnesses claim that over 58 graves exist in the village.
However, law enforcement officials have been instructed to exhume only 16 bodies- 14 grown-ups and two juveniles.
