President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second and final term will end in a few days when voters choose his successor.
Uhuru is right to be proud of his accomplishments during his 10-year presidency, but some may believe he is not yet the best president. As a result, Uhuru asked for forgiveness from those who felt he had wronged them in a speech to vernacular stations drawn from Mt Kenya on August 7.
The outgoing president stated that he never awoke intending to harm anyone during his presidency.
Please accept my sincere apologies if I offended you. “I never wake up with the intention of hurting anyone,” Uhuru said.
The president’s deputy, William Ruto, was among those who appeared to be at odds with him. During the Jubilee administration’s second term, the two leaders broke ranks. Ruto ostensibly criticized his boss’ decision to work with ODM leader Raila Odinga and later endorse his presidential bid.
Uhuru and Ruto’s feud erupted, and they began airing their dirty laundry in public. On the one hand, Ruto accused the president of failing to deliver their manifesto to the people, while Uhuru accused Ruto of being an absent deputy.
The Jubilee Party leader has recently been touring the country, warning people not to support Ruto’s presidential bid or they will be sorry.
In his speech, Uhuru also expressed regret for the failure of the Building Bridges Initiative, as he prepares to leave office at the end of his term (BBI).
BBI arose from a truce in 2018 between the president and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga, dubbed the handshake. Uhuru, on the other hand, has promised to restart the BBI exercise even after taking office.
He stated that he hoped to collaborate with the next administration to make the 2010 Constitution amendment a reality.
