The long-awaited Sagana Declaration began today at Sagana Lodge in Nyeri County. It was unfortunate that CS of Health Mutahi Kagwe welcomed Mr President after Nyeri County Governor Kahiga snubbed the event. President Uhuru Kenyatta was the first speaker at the Sagana 3 meeting, which he is hosting over 10,000 people from the vote-rich region in Nyeri County.
In the midst of this, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a major blunder in his welcoming statement when asked to speak in his Kikuyu dialect, declaring that the meeting’s goal was to discuss Kikuyu Community concerns, its current position, and its future. The majority of Kenyans were probably frustrated because they couldn’t understand what Mr. President was saying. They now feel alienated and discriminated as a result of this.
This is likely to provoke division because the president is expected to address the nation in an official language that everyone in the country understands.
