The attempted murder on a United Democratic Alliance aspirant, Ali Mwatsau in Tudor Mombasa is not politically instigate and the public should leave the matter to the responsible authority to investigate.
According to Coast Regional Commissioner (RC) John Elungata, investigations are ongoing to a certain the motive of an attack meted on a Mombasa politician Ali Mwatsau, who is aspiring to be a member of parliament come 9th August 2022.
Elungata has assured residents of a safe campaign, election and post-election period as long as they shun political instigation and lawlessness that will destabilize the region.
The shooting incident on the said politician who is recovering in a Mombasa hospital occurred this week in Tudor area Mombasa causing an uproar by politicians from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) citing a plot to scare them from vying from the party.
Ali Mwatsau is a UDA aspirant who has been vocal in matters land and equality for all.
Elungata, Chairs The Coast Regional Security and Intelligence Committee which recently launched the national, regional, county and sub county multi-sectoral co-ordination and collaboration committees on election preparedness which comprises pillars in the election process including; The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Regional Security and Intelligence Committee members, County Government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), religious organizations, civil societies, business community, women and youth representatives.
The Regional Commander insists peace is the only way to go.
