On Monday, Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson dissolved the entire management board of Mama Lucy Hospital and appointed a new board led by Dorcas Kemunto.
The board members include Bernard Gituma, Christopher Githinji (Mtumishi), MCA, Jennifer Mumbua Mutunga, Susan Wanjiru Kamau, Yvonne Peris Alera Makokha, Ronald Ngala Oniango, and Fridah Wambui NDuati.
The medical superintendent, Emma Mutio, was replaced by Bernard Gituma after she was transferred to Pumwani Hospital as a specialist.
The reshuffle follows public outrage after a video went viral showing a woman giving birth in the hospital’s corridors. The hospital claims the woman was carrying a dead fetus and had been denied access to the maternity ward by the watchman.
The hospital has also been accused of mistreatment and negligence of patients in the past.
