The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has announced its intention to take legal action against the Health and Education ministries over the Mukumu Girls’ High School tragedy.
KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori accused the ministries of negligence and said the union would seek damages on behalf of families affected by the incident.
The union also criticized Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu for replacing Mukumu Girls’ Principal Frida Ndolo, calling it a cover-up.
Misori blamed overpopulation for the tragedy, claiming that the government’s 100 percent transition policy had put a strain on resources and caused health concerns.
