Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has attacked the Kenya Kwanza presidential flag bearer William Ruto for public funds embezzlement.
Speaking in Dagoretti North, Nairobi County on Saturday, the former Prime Minister who is tipped to succeed the retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta advised the Dagoretti locals to take Ruto’s gifts but ignore him at the ballot come August 9.
“Kuna wanasiasa hawana biashara lakini wanatoa pesa mingi. Hata Safaricom hawawezi kufanya harambee kama hiyo. Anafanya harambee kikundi cha vijana milioni tano, kikundi cha wamama milioni tano, gari ya pastor milioni kumi, basi ya shule milioni kumi. Kwa mwezi anatumia milioni mia moja na mshahara kwa mwezi anapata milioni mbili. Hiyo ingine anatoa wapi?”
“There are politicians who don’t own businesses but splash money in fundraisers. Even Safaricom cannot produce such amount of money. They donate 5 million shillings to youth groups, 5 million shillings to women groups, pastor’s car 10 million, school bus 10 million. In a month they spend over 100 million shillings and they earn only 2 million shillings salary. Where do you think they get that money from?” Raila asked?
He further claimed the said politicians walk around with public funds in sacks wasting around.
“Wakati anaingia ni mwembamba kama sindano, baada ya mwaka mmoja anafura kama kupe. Kila jumapili anatafuta kanisa ya kutoa mchango. Anakuja na pesa yenu kwa gunia kuwahonga, sisemi musichukue pesa yake, chukua lakini msiseme ahsante, mwambie arudi tena na akitoka museme inawezekana.”
“They are as thin as a needle when they get in office but get as fat as a tick in a year. Every Sunday they look for a church to donate money. They come with your money in sacks. I am not telling you not to take the cash, take it but do not thank him. Instead tell him to bring some more and when he leaves, say Inawezekana.” He said.
Meanwhile, William Ruto was at the Nyayo National Stadium meeting religious leaders while popularizing bis bottom-up economic politics.
