When Peter Monari told the court about seeing his mother being beaten by armed intruders who then sliced her, it was a terrible moment. Sigara Onkware, his mother, died in October 2021.
One of her attackers, it was revealed before High Court judge Rose Ougo, was her grandson, whom she had gone to see when he became ill. She recognized him and inquired as to why he said she had charmed her.
“My mother had gone to see Chrispine Ogeto, her grandchild, a week before.” “Ogeto was ill, and the accused later referred to her as a witch,” Monari testified in court.
He went on to say that Ogeto and six other assailants attacked her with hoes, machetes, and clubs. The perpetrators then grabbed her body and planned to burn it.
For the crimes perpetrated in October of last year, the suspects are facing murder accusations. They denied any misconduct on their part.
