For the third time, the launch of Kenya’s first EO 3U nanosatellite, Taifa-1, has been postponed. The initial launch date of Tuesday was first pushed to Wednesday, April 12th at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California, but was then delayed again by two days.
The current launch, scheduled for today, was once again postponed due to weather constraints and has been rescheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) at the same time.
The launch will be streamed live from SpaceX and will be deployed alongside other small satellites from various countries on the Transporter 7 mission, a dedicated rideshare flight to a sun-synchronous orbit.
Although the launch director called for a hold at T-28 seconds, the rocket and payload are reported to be in good condition. Taifa-1 will capture images of the Kenyan landscape to provide decision support in areas such as agriculture, food security, general environmental monitoring, and defence and security.
