Embakasi East Member of the National Assembly elect Paul Ongili, also known as Babu Owino, sparked outrage online after revealing his plan if appointed Education Cabinet Sectary.
He asserted confidently that if he is appointed as Education Secretary, students will not be sent home to pay school fees.
“When I become the CS education, I will make certain that no student is sent home for failure to pay school fees,” Babu said.
Kenyans were perplexed as to why he would make such a promise when his party’s leader, Raila Odinga, promised free education from primary school to university.
Others told him that his wishes would never come true, especially if Ruto wins the presidential petition that is currently being heard in court.
“But free education was promised in your manifesto, what fees and are we talking about again?” one of them wrote.
“Before you say anything, ask if the government has hired enough teachers or if there will still be BOM teachers who need to be paid out of parents’ pockets,” another said.
