Isiolo is set to witness a battle of the senatorial seat like never before with the current Deputy Governor Abdi Ibrahim Issa, joining the race to win the much coveted seat in the quest to be chosen in a more elaborate and powerful position than his current.
Announcing his aspiration after being blessed by Isiolo community members together with Somali leaders, Issa, who is running under the Party of National Unity (PNU) party has sighted the need to have powers that will enable him to serve his people effectively.

The senatorial position is being held by Senator Fatuma Dullo, who also serves a s the Deputy leader of Majority in the Senator, another aspirant being Nuh Mohamed Ibrahim, businessman Ken Mutuma Kaari and County Assembly Speaker Hussein Golicha Roba.
During his announcement, The Isiolo Somali Council of Elders Chairman, Abdulkadir Shariff Abdullahi, noted that the Somali Community has made an agreement with the Borana community to ensure the two communities retain the deputy governor’s position.
Issa, served as Isiolo`s Deputy Governor for a period of five years citing frustrations from his boss but has stated that he has learned to make lemonade out of the experience by running for a more vocal position.
