Heartwarming Celebration of Mzee Kamenju’s 101st Birthday: Lessons on Family, Faith, and Perseverance

The 101st birthday of Mzee Stanley Kamenju Rukwaro from Timboroa in Baringo County was celebrated by family and friends. The family’s eldest son, Stephen Mwangi (70), commended their father for bringing them up in the Christian way, and his siblings also expressed gratitude for the lessons learned from their father.

They urged other children and families to take care of their parents as they age. Mzee Kamenju has over 140 grandchildren who acknowledged him for teaching them the path of Christ.

Kamenju’s wife, Miriam Wanjiku, emphasized the importance of communication in marriage and credited perseverance as the secret to a long and happy married life. She thanked God for her husband’s long life and wished him well on his birthday.

Kamenju attributed his long life to the fear of the Lord, a healthy lifestyle, and contentment. He stated that his children were his legacy, and he was showing them the right way, the Christian way.

The family’s journey was not always easy, as Kamenju’s wife mentioned the days when they could only afford to eat Githeri, a Kenyan staple made of maize and beans. However, they have persevered and can now enjoy a more varied diet, including meat and bread.

The celebration of Mzee Kamenju’s birthday is a testament to the importance of family, faith, and perseverance. The lessons he has taught his children and grandchildren are invaluable, and his long life is a blessing to all who know him.
