Grita Muthoni, a businesswoman, will be the Ford Asili party’s presidential candidate in the August 9 elections.
Muthoni said Kenyans deserve a competent leader who understands their needs during her announcement of her candidacy at the Serena Hotel on Sunday.
The entrepreneur further stated that the party will soon convene a meeting with the NDC to approve her candidacy.
Grita encouraged Kenyans to stay away from politicians who promise heaven but give nothing.
She believes it is past time for Kenya to progress and compete with other developing nations.
“I’m here to announce my candidacy for President on the Ford Asili ticket as the best candidate. Kenyans will be free of poor leadership thanks to me “she stated
Grita joins a long line of contenders expressing interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She is likely to square off against ODM leader Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja flagbearer, and Kenya Kwanza Alliance vice president William Ruto.
Raila’s campaign is being supported by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Grita refuted reports that Raila and Ruto are locked in a two-horse battle for the presidency.
She chastised the Jubilee government for excessive borrowing and expressed her eagerness to’restore’ the country’s economy.
Grita stated that her government’s focus will be on empowering society and youngsters in general.
