Gladys Boss Shollei, the Woman Representative for Uasin Gishu County and a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, has stated that if ODM leader Raila Odinga chooses Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as his running mate ahead of the August polls, it would be a step in the right direction.
According to Shollei, Karua is a great leader who has stood firm against all odds in a political field dominated by men, and her political stance will give more women hope.
Shollei, speaking to Citizen TV on Wednesday, argued that Azimio does not have a good track record of having women leaders in their coalition structure.
“As a woman, I would be delighted if Azimio had a female running mate, especially if it was a strong woman like Martha Karua, whom I greatly admire. It would be a step in the right direction for encouraging women to pursue higher-level political positions “She stated.
Despite her adamant refusal to reveal which camp she would be joining, Karua stated that she chose Raila’s team because they had been through a lot together, and Raila has been tested and found to be a leader of integrity, who keeps promises and always puts the country’s interests ahead of his own.
