After making a name for himself in academia, immediate former Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof. Erastus Njoka faces a difficult road ahead in his bid for the Tharaka Nithi Governorship.
Prof. Njoka, a well-known academic, has been named by the ruling Jubilee Party to run against the incumbent, UDA’s Muthomi Njuki, in the August 9 general election.

Given that he is going up against the battle-hardened Njuki, a wise political survivor who has seen it all since his days as an MP, Prof. Njoka should hope for the best but brace himself for the worst.
With the Jubilee Party trailing the UDA in the region in terms of popularity, Prof. Njoka’s choice of political vehicle could be his undoing.
The former VC enters the battlefield as an underdog in the battle for numbers. Given his position in Tharaka Nithi politics, Njuki’s favorite tag is understandable. But can Prof. Njoka still pull a surprise and win the seat?
