Fatuma Gedi Explains Why She Didn’t Report Ruto’s Land Grabbing Claims to Court Rather Than Parliament

Fatua Gedi, a Wajir Woman Representative, has claimed that she did not report Deputy President William Ruto’s land grabbing claims to court, but instead chose to use the parliament because the “National Assembly is her office,” and the relevant commissions and agencies have employees who should have done that work of investigation.

Speaking to NTV on Monday during the ‘Kigoda Chako Show,’ Azimio La Umoja allied lawmaker said that the issue of land affairs was first tabled by leaders allied to Ruto’s camp, and the motion had an ill-motive, according to the motion.

“I have no desire to take the documents to the agencies that are required to do their jobs. Those people are employed and paid, and they are aware of their responsibilities.”

“However, their camp brought a petition on behalf of the people of Kwale County, and they used the petition to hurl insults, speak ill of others, and make unsubstantiated claims. They named various leaders and discussed various families.”

“That’s when I asked the Speaker to avoid giving people a chance to defend themselves because they weren’t in the Assembly. I expected the speaker to say that people should not worry about their families, but he didn’t, so I stood up and said that even Kenya Kwanza’s presidential candidate has grabbed land “Gedi stated.

According to some DP allies, Gedi’s move was politically motivated, with the main reason being that Speaker Justin Muturi publicly supported Ruto’s bid.
